Raspberry PI 4. Initial setup

Raspberry PI 4. Initial setup

I bought Malinka, to be more precise Raspberry PI 4 (4 Gb) and I put Raspbian Buster on it, as the manufacturer advises (I’ll tell the stasis, I tried to put a lot of things, now it costs Raspbian Buster x64 ).

Well, wow...

Okay, I will not describe the installation (100500 articles have been written about this, but in short: balenaEtcher will help you). And I won’t talk about the settings in raspi-config either - everything is clear there, and it’s also described everywhere, but if you have questions, write. But after installation there are some points.

Russian language not working

Well, it seems to be logical - not a Russian distribution, but that's not even the point. When configuring via LXPANEL (as many people advise), all settings crash on reboot (PINN and some versions of Raspbian), and it seems like it doesn’t take long to reconfigure ... but after all, it’s normal to do 5 seconds.

To do this, launch the File Manager and poke Ctrl+H in it, go to /home/pi/.config/lxpanel/LXDE-pi/panels and edit the panel file as follows:

change the content of the block

Plugin {
type=xkb...
...
}

to the following content:

Plugin {
type=xkb
Config {
  Model=pc105
  LayoutsList=us,ru
  VariantsList=,
  ToggleOpt=grp:alt_shift_toggle
  KeepSysLayouts=0
  DisplayType=0
  }
}

And Russian starts working fine after download.

Well, a few words about Wi-Fi - if you need a 5 GHz band - switch the Wi-Fi country settings to GB (Great Britain) in raspi-config and you will be happy.
